About

Lisa Youngdahl

My background with art started at a young age. I remember as a child creating my own illustrations for favorite books if I didn’t like the ones published. I always wanted to be an artist, but I am also a pragmatist. I knew I would have to earn a living and majoring in graphic design seemed to be a sensible career decision. My degree is from Southern Illinois University.

After working for Fortune 500 companies as an in-house designer and at advertising agencies. I founded Resolution Creative, a visual communications studio. I create print marketing and develop concepts that will engage the audience, are easy to understand, and memorable. This includes developing branding and logo design, packaging, brochures, posters, publications, digital and traditional illustration. My business is currently located at Water Street Studios in Batavia, Illinois. I am also part of the adjunct faculty at Waubonsee Community College and Elgin Community College, teaching credit courses in graphic design. I offer private lessons at Water Street Studios and have served as a resident member of the Board of Directors.

Being at Water Street has encouraged me to further develop my fine art skills. Most of my work is based on my experiences, working from my original photographs of places I have been, scenes from nature, animals. Capturing textures in 2D art fascinates me. Viewers are often surprised that my work is created with colored pencil; the richness and depth of color achieved looks more like a painting. The past few years I’ve been creating work featuring musicians. I enjoy live music and have a vacation property in Nashville. I am inspired by the faces, body postures, and concentration I see in musicians. Music, however, is not one of my talents. Creating a visual representation is my own way of being a part of the experience and sharing it with others.
